Performance Management
The concept of Performance Management encompasses many factors, from employee coaching and training, to helping employees understand their roles in your organization. This understanding encourages greater productivity and stronger partnering with management. Performance Management involves identifying and resolving barriers to success by identifying the root causes of problems. It also entails understanding organizational competencies and skills needed for future success and involves working with employees not meeting expectations, as well as by maximizing the effectiveness of high potential employees.
Performance appraisals, a subset of performance management, can be used to measure performance for purposes of reward or differentiation among employees. They can also be used as a tool in the development of individual potential. An effective performance appraisal system helps support the organization’s mission, can be used as both an administrative and developmental tool, and is perceived by employees as useful and equitable.
